DELCAMBRE - The regular season came to an end Friday night as the Sacred Heart Trojans went on the road and defeated the Delcambre Panthers 48-27. With the win the Trojans evened up their overall 2016 record to 5-5 and improved their stock regarding playoff implications.

VILLE PLATTE - The Ville Platte Bulldogs dropped their last game of the season, 50-6, to the Church Point Bears Friday evening.
And, in doing so, they may have dropped out of the playoff picture, too.

Being without a win in the last 27 games dating back to the 2014 season, the Mamou Demons have had a rough go of it to say the least. In fact, Mamou has not won multiple games in a season since 2012, when the Demons collected two wins.

Like every other team across the state that entered the 2016 season, certain goals were set.
For the Basile Bearcats (3-6, 2-2), those goals were to win a district championship, make the playoffs and get as many home games in the post-season as possible.

With the playoffs mathematically impossible for Pine Prairie, the Panthers’ focus now becomes winning a fourth game this season and breaking a school record for victories in a season. Pine Prairie will attempt to make that happen tomorrow night as they travel to take on the Eunice Bobcats.

Well, it all boils down to this simple fact for Sacred Heart, you have to win to be in. The Trojans are the No. 17 ranked team in the power ratings and must be in the top 16 to get a playoff berth.

Al Davis, the former Oakland Raider owner, said it best when he said “Just win, baby”.
And, if Ville Platte High (5-4, 2-2) wishes to keep their playoff position, they would be wise to heed Mr. Davis’ sentiment. Ville Platte has made the playoffs in six of the last nine years.

DEQUINCY – Another chance at claiming their first win of the season was torn away from the Mamou Demons again Friday night, as they fell hard to the DeQuincy Tigers in a 35-0 loss here Friday night.
