The National Dog Show came to Ville Platte Tuesday night in a game between the winning breed of the Non-Sporting Group with the Ville Platte Bulldogs hosting the David Thibodaux Bulldogs.

Pine Prairie kicked off its season on a warm and humid Friday night at home in what was called “The Battle of Highway 49” and “The Panther Bowl” and succumbed to the visiting Panthers of Bunkie by a final score of 48-14.

There can be only one word to describe Sacred Heart’s quadruple overtime 30-22 loss to Iota on Friday night: heartbreaking.
Sacred Heart tied the game up 14-14 on an eight yard touchdown pass from Sam Tuminaro to Seth Shipp.

Taking advantage of the big play, the Ville Platte Bulldogs blanked the Mamou Demons, 30-0, Thursday evening at home to open the 2015 football season.
Next week, both teams hit the road for Week 2. The Bearcats travel to Ville Platte, while Mamou visits East Beauregard.
