The Evangeline Parish Relay for Life, which benefits the American Cancer Society, was scheduled to be held Saturday, April 18, at the Ville Platte High School football stadium. However, due to weather, the event has been postponed.

A passionate discussion about a proposed restaurant and alcohol drew great interest at the Ville Platte City Council earlier this week. The council voted to hold a public meeting on the subject before the regular May meeting to allow more public input on the matter.

The Evangeline Parish Police Jury, during its monthly meeting Monday, April 13, was presented with an annual update of programs offered by the LSU Agcenter.
Keith Fontenot, AgCenter chair, briefed the jurors on the various services they offer.

Ville Platte Police Department detectives began an investigation on March 31, of indecent behavior with two juveniles on Martin Luther King Drive in Ville Platte.

On March 10, officers responded to a report of a residential break in and discovered that a male suspect broke into a vehicle through the window and then broke a window on the residence and gained entry. The suspect then came face to face with the homeowner and fled the scene.

The 31st Annual Boggy Bayou Festival was held this weekend. As always, the festival began with the raising of the flag on Thursday, April 9.

The first ever Le Grand Hoorah was held this weekend and the event was a massive success. The cultural festival was held at Chicot State Park on Friday and Saturday and featured live music, a cochon de lait, dance classes and numerous family-friendly activities.
