Hypocrisy can be defined as deliberate deception, trying to make people think we are more spiritual than we really are. A hypocrite is a person who is not himself on Sunday.

In January, most activity departments are breathing a sigh of relief that the holidays are over and they can slow down a bit. That may be partly true. It may be less hectic, switching to the first of the year after the constant pace of December, but true activity directors never have down time.

Christmas has passed, the wrapping paper has been disposed of, what’s left of the turkey is coming to an end and here we are about to enter a brand new year. What will it hold for us? Nobody really knows, and I don’t think we would necessarily want to know.

It’s January 2015! It is time again to look to the future, set new goals and look for new directions. Long range planning is important to keep pace with the rapidly evolving senior care industry. Ideas are abundant, but time is in short supply.

We read in Luke’s gospel that Joseph and Mary went to the city of Bethlehem to be taxed. Mary was about ready to deliver her child at this time, but law was law. In verses 6-7, we read, “And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

How big is grace? It is big enough to wipe out the sins of the whole world. When Jesus came to John the Baptist for baptism, John exclaimed, “Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29 KJV)
