It has been a tale of two seasons for the Basile Bearcats this year. After starting 1-4, the Bearcats have reeled off two straight wins and stand alone atop the District 5-1A standings at a perfect 2-0.

It has been another rough and tumble football season for the Mamou Demons in 2016. The Demons are 0-7 on the year after a 63-7 loss to Kinder and now they must face perennial playoff contender Welsh tomorrow night in Mamou. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

After picking up a much needed win against Port Barre this past Friday night, the Ville Platte Bulldogs will now face the District 5-3A leader Northwest High for a chance at picking up some much needed power points and putting themselves in position for a district title.

VILLE PLATTE -- To say that Ville Platte needed to pick up a win over Port Barre to stay in the playoff hunt would be the understatement of the season.
So, the Bulldogs came out and did what was necessary, as they dominated Port Barre in every facet of the game for a 28-0 win.

OPELOUSAS – In what could ultimately be the deciding game for the District 5-1A championship, the Basile Bearcats used a solid defensive effort to take down the Westminster Crusaders 14-12 here Thursday night.

MAMOU -- Mamou knew going in it would be a challenge Thursday night as they hosted the defending State Champion Kinder Yellow Jackets. The challenge proved insurmountable for the Demons as they fell 63-7.
Defensive lineman Kade Chatelain was out which made the game more challenging.

LOREAUVILLE-- In a key battle to maintain playoff position in Division III, the Sacred Heart Trojans traveled to Loreauville in the hopes of picking up some very important power points with a win over the Tigers.

The loss to Northwest High this past Friday was not a shocking revelation for Pine Prairie, simply because the Raiders are one of the top teams in Class 3A. However, the way in which the 41-0 loss occurred was not how the script was supposed to be written.

Getting their second win of the season and their first district win was a huge momentum boost for Basile, as they easily handled the North Central Hurricanes this past Friday.
