Turkey Creek Mayor Heather Cloud says she will appeal a ruling made by a judge in court Monday, November 17, dismissing her lawsuit that sought to overturn the town’s mayoral election, asserting her opponent in the election won by paying voters to vote for him.

Mamou’s Cajun Christmas parade, the most unique parade of its kind in all of Acadiana, will be held Sunday, December 7. Parade time will be at 2 p.m.

Turkey Creek Mayor Heather Cloud has filed suit challenging the election results in which she lost re-election to her opponent, Bert Keith Campbell, by a vote of 110 to 106.

The Mamou Town Council received some bad, but understandable, financial news at its regular November meeting last week. There will be a public hearing on two budget proposal ordinances and on a pay raise for the mayor before the next regular meeting on December 10.

Evangeline Parish School Board Superintendent Toni Hamlin met with principals and teacher representatives from each of the parish’s schools Thursday, November 13, after teachers began protesting a rumored three percent raise for Hamlin while their salaries were stagnant.

The Ville Platte Police Department has ended its search for Ville Platte teenager Olshimer McCoy, 15, who went missing Friday, November 7.
McCoy, who was suspected to have run away, returned home Tuesday, November 11, to the Gabriel Villa Apartment complex.
