Road work is about to begin that is funded with a 2 percent tax approved by voters to pay for a 15-year bond issue.
The parish’s consulting engineer, Ronnie landreneau, said contracts for the work will be signed and certified by the end of this month.

The Ville Platte Police Department is looking for a runaway from the Gabriel Villa Apartment complex. Olshimer McCoy was last seen on Friday November 7, at approximately 7:30 in the evening. He is described as a black male, approximately 5’9.

In a display of public indignation, Mayor Jennifer Vidrine lambasted Sacred Heart School Principal Diane Fontenot during Wednesday evening’s Ville Platte City Council meeting. The fireworks, however, seem to stem from miscommunication issues.

The Mamou Demons had the enormous task of taking on the defending Class 2A state champion Kinder Yellow Jackets Friday night. An upset of Kinder would have definitely given the Demons a huge victory in what has been a rocky season.

Pine Prairie High School students -- mostly sophomores -- visited the courtroom where 13th District Judge J. Larry Vidrine presided over felony arraignments Thursday, November 6. The students were escorted by Ginny Ardoin, a civics teacher at the school.

A bomb threat was called in for the Evangeline Parish Courthouse Wendesday morning and the courthouse was evacuated as a result. Those who work in the courthouse were made to stand outside while authorities performed their precautionary search.
