The only thing that a team can do after a loss the magnitude of which Sacred Heart experienced this past Friday night is to completely erase it. Simply put, the Trojans’ 62-6 defeat at the hands of Notre Dame was an event that every team on the Pioneers schedule has had to endure.

LAKE ARTHUR -- It was a night of big plays in the District 5-2A opening game for Mamou. Unfortunately, the Demons were not the beneficiary of those plays, as they fell to Lake Arthur 50-12 here Thursday night.

BASILE - It was the offensive explosion Basile had been waiting for and it came at the most important part of the season, as the Bearcats picked up a 49-14 District 5-1A opening win over the North Central Hurricanes.

CROWLEY -- Notre Dame extended its win streak to 19 games with a methodical win over Sacred Heart, Ville Platte, Friday night at Gardiner Stadium. The Pios scored on offense, defense and special teams with a 62-6 win.

EUNICE -- The Eunice High Bobcats rolled up 362 yards of offense on their way to a 45-14 victory over the Ville Platte High Bulldogs in the District 5-3A opener for both teams at Bobcat Stadium.

Where do you turn after starting the season 0-5?

It has been a rough non-district season for the Basile Bearcats, as they have finished the first five games with a 1-4 overall record.

The Pine Prairie Panthers were hoping to go into the district season with a 3-2 record, but a loss this past Friday to Tara High School put a major kink in that plan.
