Goodley questioned in murder of his grandmother

Christopher Goodley, 21, is currently being questioned in the murder of his grandmother, 80-year-old Delsy Williams, but charges have not been filed against him at this time.

Two arrests made in forestry equipment theft and damage case

Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) investigators say two Beauregard Parish men are charged with theft of forestry equipment and criminal property damage following a joint investigation with Evangeline Parish detectives.

Crash at Lincoln/Chataignier corner

Two trucks collided at the new four-way stop on the corner of Lincoln Road and Chataignier Street Thursday, October 23. The white Dodge Ram pickup, travelling west on Lincoln Road, collided with the delivery truck as it came from the north side of the roadway. No injuries were reported.

School/District scores ‘exciting news’ for parish

The biggest, and possibly best, news to come out of the release of school performance scores by the Louisiana Department of Education Tuesday, October 21, is that this school district as a whole has increased its score from a C (76.6) to a B (88.7).

A mistrial was declared last week in the case against Steveniski Marquelle Frank by 13th Judicial District Judge John Larry Vidrine, who cited the “Brady Rule” as the reason for the mistrial.

Scam targeting residents, claiming to be Ville Platte Fire Department fund raiser

A scam has been reported in which residents are being solicited for donations to the Ville Platte Fire Department over the phone. These callers are asking for credit card information and, in one instance, promised tickets to the Heymann Center for their donation.
