The body of 29-year-old Latoya Richard was found in her home on High School Drive earlier this week after she failed to meet her daughter, who was getting off of the school bus.

A thief managed to manually shut off a gas pump at the Shell station on Poinciana Street in Mamou and steal hundreds of dollars in gasoline.

School buses were parked along Sixth Street, a block from Mamou High School and students who had been evacuated after a bomb threat to the football field, were they were told by megaphone which bus was being loaded.
