McNeese State girls volleyball team cleans future boys and girls club building

Members of the McNeese State University women’s volleyball team cleaned the old Evangeline Bank building at the corner of Main and Court streets, on Tuesday, August 19. The building will house the Ville Platte Boys and Girls Club.

New mamou sign to announce upcoming events

Mamou installed a sign on the front lawn of the town hall in late July. It now shows the temperature and welcomes visitors, but it will also be used to remind residents of the town -- or people passing through -- of upcoming events, like the Cajun Music Festival or football games.

Mamou cracking down on unsightly properties

Mamou is cracking down on abandoned, and often hazardous, structures on properties in the town. About a half dozen structures have been demolished so far. Twelve properties have been identified as abandoned.
