A blacktop walking trail was laid around Gloria Frank Hope Park on East Lincoln Road and Railroad Ave. earlier this week. The trail is wide enough to accommodate two walkers side by side. A blacktop walking trail is expected to be laid at Hargrove Park next week.

A state appeals court ruled on Wednesday, June 11, in favor of Pine Prairie Energy in its suit against the parish. The ruling upholds an agreement PPE made with the parish’s Industrial Development Board to exempt PPE from paying ad valorem property taxes to the parish.

The Weekly Gazette was 10 years old when it covered the most sensational murder case in the parish. The victim, Robert Leo Wiggins, was the son of former Sheriff R.L. Wiggins.
