The police jury, during a special meeting Monday, April 28, voted five to three to promote Chester Granger to the parish public works director. Granger was public works director before resigning in May 2012. Dustin Vidrine had been public works director, but he resigned earlier this month.

TURKEY CREEK - The Turkey Creek Village Council renewed the rodeo arena lease agreement for one year. Wesley King, who leased the arena last year, has agreed to renew the lease with the village and maintain the area.

The Ville Platte Police Department is asking residents to assist in locating suspects that are currently evading police. Chief Neal Lartigue asks that you call in if you see these suspects but do not try to detain them on your own.
