The final tune-up game before Ville Platte High starts their district competition will take place this Friday night when the Bulldogs host the Opelousas High Tigers for homecoming. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Its exam time for the Sacred Heart Trojans and their big test comes in the form of a heated rival, Opelousas Catholic.

JEANERETTE – Despite a dominant first half performance, the Sacred Heart Trojans had to come back from a three-point halftime deficit to pick up a 32-16 win over the Jeanerette Tigers here Thursday night.

VILLE PLATTE –In what turns out to be a reflection of this current tropical storm season, there was no Hurricane at Memorial Field Thursday evening.
Instead, as expected, it was Ville Platte Bulldogs High that blew away North Central, storming to a 45-0 home victory.

MAMOU – In what seemed like a make or break game for both squads, the Pine Prairie Panthers scored in every phase of the game to take a 25-6 non-district win over the Mamou Green Demons here Friday night.

The good news for the Basile Bearcats is that they have finally found the right formula to secure a win this season after defeating South Cameron this past Friday 27-0.

It was a roller coaster ride for the Ville Platte High Bulldogs this past Friday, as their 13 point halftime lead faded late in the game in a 21-20 loss to Lafayette Christian.

As Sacred Heart head coach Josh Harper views it, the second phase of the season for the Trojans begins tonight, as they will travel to Jeanerette for the opening of District 5-2A play.

Not to be overdramatic, but in the short history of the Mamou versus Pine Prairie football rivalry, this week’s contest between the two schools may be the most significant in terms of making or breaking a season.

BASILE -- In a much needed win, the Basile Bearcats took care of a scrappy South Cameron ball club and ran away with a 27-0 win over the Tarpons.
