Rubin has motion to correct illegal sentence remanded

Russell Ross Rubin, who was convicted for a 1993 murder of a Chataigner woman, was given a chance to get out of prison after the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal handed down a decision that remanded the case back to the district court for resentencing.

A Pine Prairie resident has taken the Gospel music of the old camp meetings and tent revivals and has brought them to the nursing homes in the area.

Evangeline Soccer Association holds opening ceremonies

The Evangeline Parish Soccer Association held its inaugural Opening Ceremonies on Saturday, August 26. Parents, grandparents, family, and friends by the hundreds turned out to see the 180 children take the pitch at the Ville Platte Recreational Complex.
