Ville Platte police will soon be wearing cameras that will help to establish proof of what occurs during traffic, domestic abuse or any other incidents that police respond to.

A caller reported to police at approximately 11 a.m. that a bomb had been placed in the Evangeline Parish Courthouse and "it was about to go off." The bomb threat led to the evacuation of the courthouse while police blocked the road and the fire department responded.

Pine Prairie police charge man in post office burglary

The Pine Prairie Police Department charged a Pine Prairie man with burglary and felony theft.
At approximately 10 a.m. on February 26, Assistant Chief Chuncey Fontenot responded to the post office in Pine Prairie in reference to a burglary of several parcel lockers.

Mamou to charge $20 fee for late bills

Mamou utility customers who are late paying their bills will have to pay a higher price starting in March.
