The annual Senior Olympics for Region III of the Louisiana Nursing Home Association will be held on Saturday, July 12, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Comeaux Recreation Center in Lafayette. Our residents love to compete in various events and look forward to attending this event each year.

Jesus told the story about a Pharisee and a tax collector who went to the temple to pray. The Pharisee prayed loudly, thanking God that he was a good man, not like other men - robbers, evil doers, and not like the tax collector over there. He reminded God that he fasted and tithed regularly.

How big is grace? It is big enough to wipe out the sins of the whole world. When Jesus came to John the Baptist for baptism, John exclaimed, as recorded in John 1:29 KJV, “Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.”

Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” It is obvious that this is how Jesus wants us to view the unsaved, the cases that walked by our church doors. Let’s face it, society today is different than it was when a lot of us were growing up.

Father’s Day has been celebrated nationwide for over 40 years, when President Richard Nixon signed a law in 1972 for fathers to be honored on the third Sunday in June. At Heritage Manor, we show our dads honor and appreciation with a celebration and award a plaque to the most active father.

Colossians 3:21 says, “Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.” This verse challenges us as fathers to be careful that we do not crush the spirits of our children. Dads, let’s cut down on criticism and sarcasm in the home.

The Apostle Paul had a past to forget. Scripture tells us that he had tortured and murdered many innocent people simply because they were followers of Jesus. He had caused a lot of pain and had done much damage to the cause of Christ.
