The Evangeline Parish Solid Waste Office and Dumpster Sites will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 28, and November 29, for the Holiday. The Pine Prairie site which is normally closed on Wednesdays will be open on Wednesday, November 27, to avoid being closed three consecutive days.

During a special meeting of the Pine Prairie Village Council held Monday, November 25, introduced an ordinance to amend the 2013 fiscal year budget and also introduced an ordinance for the 2014 fiscal year budget.

No injuries resulted from a two-vehicle crash on Pine Point Road at approximately 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 26. The crash occurred about a mile north of Highway 104.

Chataignier has a full council now that the newest alderman was sworn in on Monday, November 18.
Gail E. McDavid was sworn in by the village’s new attorney, Bo West, before the monthly village council meeting was scheduled to start.

Construction on the parish’s new main library has resumed after an apparent pause in the project, causing the Evangeline Parish Police Jury to meet in closed, executive session on Monday, November 18, to consider its options.

Employees of Superior Tank Co., Inc., of Madisonville, Kentucky, complete work on the exterior of Mamou’s elevated water tower recently. The project was funded by the Louisiana Commmunity Water Enrichment Fund from the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 fiscal years.

Makayla Jones, the 2014 Evangeline Parish Miss Heart of the USA Queen of Hearts, has collected more than 1,500 food items. She has not only donated those items to the Christian Care and Share Center in Ville Platte, she has started a food drive at her school, Vidrine Elementary.
