“It’s a real joy for me to be back in my hometown,” Fr. Jason Vidrine said in the Sacred Heart Church office on Thursday. He recently became pastor of the church after Fr. Joshua Guillory left for an assignment to the Vatican in Rome that could last five or more years.

During the monthly Ville Platte City Council meeting Tuesday, engineer Ronnie Landreneau said equipment was installed last week that will collect water metering data remotely. Installation of test meters should begin next week, he said.

Seth Deville won the LSU rocking chair for being the Grand Champion of the ninth annual First Baptist Church of Ville Platte Cook-Off on Sunday, November 3 for his first place dish in the pork category, Pork Duo. He also placed first in the beef category.

John Deville, owner of the Rendevous Dinner Club that burned to the ground this past summer, surrendered at the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Monday morning, and had his bond reduced to $75,000.
