Police Chief Neal Lartigue with the Ville Platte Police Department is reminding citizens to keep their belongings secure. Theft will happen, but you can help minimize your risk of being a victim. Securing your items can make it harder for a thief to take them.

State lifts burn ban

State Fire Marshal H. “Butch” Browning and Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain have lifted the cease and desist order on outdoor burning issued on September 17, for Evangeline and 31 other parishes in Louisiana.

Swamp Pop Museum celebrates third anniversary

Main library in final three months of construction

The parish’s new main library is coming together inside and outside, most recently with landscaping, as the anticipated opening is three months away. The landscaping is planned so that the plants reach their peak at different times of the year.
