There are so many signs of spring. Look outdoors and you may see flowers blooming, trees budding, birds gathering their nesting materials and sunshine.

Mardi Gras is celebrated each year on the day before Ash Wednesday. The French words “Mardi Gras” mean “Fat Tuesday.” Dating back in time, the early Catholics celebrated and indulged until midnight. King cakes are a part of the Mardi Gras tradition, as well as the gumbo.

The message of the early church was a straightforward message of repentance. The word means to change one’s mind for the better, to turn one’s back on sin. When genuine repentance takes place, the change in a person’s life is radical ad powerful.

Up until 1968, the birth anniversaries of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington were celebrated in various states as holidays on February 12, and February 22. On June 28, 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Monday Holiday Law.

Every individual God has created has a primary purpose. Our lives will be without meaning, we will be failures, unless we find out what our purpose is, our reason for living. I can tell you this much, for those who haven’t a clue. It is not to eat, drink and be merry.

February is National Heart Month in the United States, also known as American Heart Month. National Heart Month is a way to promote awareness about keeping your heart strong and a time to encourage healthy eating and living habits.

We read in Malachi 1:1, “The burden of the word of the Lord to Israel by Malachi.” What we see stated in the Book of Malachi is that the prophet was directed by God to warn the nation of Israel to turn away from their wickedness. All blessing to the nation had ceased from the Lord.
