A military memorial service will be held for Joseph Warren Fontenot, 68, of Ville Platte, at a later date. He donated his body to science to aid in medical research.

MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Berna Kuntze, 90, of Mamou, at the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Mamou at 2 p.m., Friday, January 15. Burial followed in the New St. Ann’s Mausoleum.

MAMOU — Walmart ann-ounced Friday it is closing the doors on 154 of its U.S. stores, including the Mamou store located at 1445 Old Hwy 13. The tentative date of closure is Jan. 28. which means that the Mamou store would have been open for one year and two weeks.

WASHINGTON – The Justice Department and U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced today that former Mamou Police Chief Robert McGee was sentenced today to one year and a day in prison for depriving an inmate at the Mamou jail of his federally protected rights.
