MAMOU – John T. Collins, Jr., 69, a native of Armstrong, Ill.s and a resident of Mamou, La. passed away on July 25, 2008 at 1:05 a.m. at his residence following a long illness.

Cade – Rita Lee Lewis says she's been dead on her feet since they opened the new Cade Community Center to business.

The Eunice City Council will decide on Aug. 12 whether to roll back the general alimony property tax and leave it there, or then roll it forward.

It has scheduled at 6:15 p.m. public hearing to get input from citizens on the question.

The Fuselier reunion, a first-ever attempt at assembling all members and connecting families, was a fun-filled weekend that could not be dampened by the customary summer cloud bursts and thunderstorms that roll through southern Louisiana in summer.

Work on the new city-owned pavilion is almost complete just as work gets under way on the new wastewater facility, said Mayor Curtis Joubert.

The City Council completed sale of paper for the new unit of the Wastewater facility. The sale was for $1 million worth of bonds. The first sale for the project was for $1.7 million. Some of the bonds are to be repaid by sales tax revenue, the rest by sewerage revenues.
