The Ville Platte Super 10’s came up short in their bid to get to the two-out-of-three state championship in Alexandria.

The numbers have been piling up in monthly reports for months. Now, the totals have the St. Landry Parish School Board considering freezing most hiring while it decides what to do next.

U.S. District Judge Tucker Melancon refused Thursday to close Ville Platte High School before school begins next month, allowing the Evangeline Parish School Board a week to decide if it will declare an emergency and call another tax election for November.

After winning the District Tournament, the VP Pony boys advanced to Crowley for the sectional.

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674 held a meeting June 4, to finalize plans for the Salad and Bingo fund raiser held June 12. Following the opening prayers and Pledge of Allegiance, the meeting was conducted by Regent Mary Jenkins.
