INTERESTING FACTS. . .

Received the 2008 edition of a handy little publication, “50 State Comparisons,” and thought I’d share with you just a few of the interesting statistics in the booklet published by The Taxpayers Network (www.taxpayersnetwork.org).

In an election campaign in which not only young liberals, but also some people who are neither young nor liberals, seem absolutely mesmerized by the skilled rhetoric of Barack Obama, facts have receded even further into the background than usual.

Few columns have produced more comments than the one about elderberries. Several readers remembered their parents using the leaves of the plant to put in infants’ diapers to prevent or treat rash.

I’ve been hearing somewhat conflicting information about crawfishing, but generally it seems to be winding down. A friend from Bayou Pigeon just told me he knows of people who are easily catching 30 plus sacks a day and the price is up to 80 cents a pound.
