ELTON-- The Mamou Demon let a tremendous opportunity slip through their hands Friday night when they fell to the Welsh Greyhounds 64-53 in a playoff to decide which team would represent District 4-2A as the first place team.

Both the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans and the Basile Lady Bearcats took to the hard court Monday night in the bi-district round of the LHSAA basketball playoffs.
Unfortunately, neither team could find their way to victory and were eliminated after first round losses.

Coming into their game Tuesday night against Kinder, the Mamou High Demons had one goal in mind; win and force a playoff game against Welsh for the district championship.
The Demons did just that, pulling away from the Yellow Jackets in the fourth quarter with a 68-57 win.

The Basile Bearcat wrestling team took to the mats this past weekend to compete at the LHSAA state meet.
As a team the Bearcats were able to score enough points to place fifth overall in Division III and had three wrestlers earn state champion titles in the process.

Four of the five high schools earned berths in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s girls basketball playoffs on Monday.
In Class 3A, District 5-3A champion Ville Platte (19-8) earned the No. 14 seed and will host No. 19 Carroll in the opening round.

PRAIRIE RHONDE — The dust had settled after another Mardi Gras had come and gone.
But there was still dust to settle on the road to the district championship in District 5-3A as the Lady Bulldogs of Ville Platte forced a playoff game against Eunice for the title.
