The Evangeline Parish Police Jury had a recreational district created by statute and then appointed a board to begin working on a recreational park for this area several years ago.

BATON ROUGE - Governor Bobby Jindal’s line item veto number 45 and 100 killed plans for the long awaited children’s recreational district for the parish, according to Senator Eric LaFleur.

After making history and placing first in their regional tournament, the Ville Platte eight-and-under (8U) All-Stars are ready to do battle in the National Tournament. The event is taking place in Slidell and begins today.

There have only been three Dixie Minor State Tournaments in Louisiana. Thus far, Ville Platte has managed to win every single one of them. The VP boys cornered the market on the Dixie Minors; event with a 6-0 victory over Tioga late Sunday afternoon.
