FEW FALL RACES. . .

Qualifying ended last week for elections scheduled in the fall, but parish voters will have very few races to decide as most incumbents will continue in office without opposition.

A number of friends of mine have commented on an odd phenomenon that they have observed — conservative Republicans they know who are saying that they are going to vote for Barack Obama.

Jindal vetoes projects

Baton Rouge – An appropriation of $25,000 to the Breaux Bridge Historical Society and $25,000 for two separate projects for the St. Martin Parish, Iberia, Lafayette Community Action Agency, or SMILE, in St. Martinville are among the more than $16 million in projects deleted by Gov. Bobby Jindal’s veto pen from the state general fund.

St. Martinville – At approximately 1 a.m. Thursday morning, a St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a vehicle traveling eastbound on I-10 for traveling too close, and for improper display of a license plate.
