Candidate qualifying complete

With the nation speculating about who will be the vice-presidential candidates for John McCain and Barack Obama, Vermilion Parish candidates for several offices that will be highlighted in the fall election are officially registered with the Clerk of Court office in Abbeville.

School board says no to tax increase

The Vermilion Parish School Board voted not to raise the millage of an ad valorem tax.

Every four years, because the assessor’s office re-assess property values, the school board is allowed to adjust a Constitutional Millage.

Sales tax collections up and down

The three largest cities in Vermilion Parish saw an increase of at least five percent in sales tax collection for the month of May.

Rayne, Crowley advance

Rayne defeated Eunice 4-2 in the Pony finals to advance to the 13-14 year olds state tournament in Crowley set to begin on Wednesday.

CHS class of 1958

On Saturday evening of June 28, the Crowley High School Class of 1958 held its 50th year reunion at the Town Club. Over 50 percent of the remaining class members attended.
