CROWLEY – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2008 at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church for Estelle Adams, 83, who died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Southwind Nursing Home.

MORSE – The Morse Recreational Festival will kickoff at 5 p.m. today, and continue on July 11 and 12, starting at 5 p.m. each evening.

RAYNE – A planned new I-10 exit in East Rayne, which Rayne Mayor Jim Petitjean was hoping would bring new business to his city, may have hit a snag. Petitjean was looking for money to build the new exit which will be built near the proposed Frogland Water Park.

CROWLEY – To hear Glenn Stokes, owner of Mosquito Control Contractors Inc. (MCCI), say it, Acadia Parish has been pretty lucky. Acadia has had the fewest number, one, of West Nile indicators of all surrounding Acadiana parishes.

CROWLEY – Qualifying continues for the upcoming election which will be held October 4, 2008. Several local and parish positions will be up for grabs as candidates have until this Friday, July 11, at 5 p.m. to qualify for the office they are seeking.

Clark Morris

Clark R. Morris, 73, of Eunice died Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Oak Lane Nursing Home in Eunice, La. A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Arrangements will be under direction of Quirk & Son.

Jasper Miller

Jasper Miller, 68, of Ville Platte, died Tuesday, July  8, 2008, at Ville Platte Medical Center.

Visitation is from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM (service time) Saturday, July 12, 2008.
