The professed surprise by legislators and Gov. Bobby Jindal at the overwhelming public outcry over a legislative pay raise demonstrates how far halls of government sometimes are from the real world.

Gov. Bobby Jindal on Thursday informed the Clerk of the Louisiana House that he had vetoed a pay raise for Louisiana Public Service Commission members.

The St. Landry Parish School Board believes it can do better than an anonymous group and the U.S. Dept. of Justice in reaching the remaining desegregation goals. It has about a month and half to find out.
