CROWLEY – A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Northside Assembly of God for Michael Gene Duhon, 57, who died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.

Pastor Loyd Singley will be officiating the service.

CROWLEY – Qualifying for Parish-wide and local races will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on July 9 and 10 and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 11. Those qualifying will be:

Democratic State Sen. Don Cravins, Jr. formalized Wednesday what had been presumed for some time -- he will seek the 7th Congressional District seat in the U.S. Congress in October.

The seat is held by Republican Charles Boustany, Jr., who is seeking re-election.

The Cal Ripken 10-year-old World Series is coming to Abbeville’s A.A. Comeaux Park in August.
