For Mamou’s Courtney Tate, softball seemed almost over. Her senior year ended when the Lady Demons fell to Dequincy in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs. Then, a phone call came and changed all that.

The Louisiana Cotton Festival Association’s Children’s Court Pageant will be held Sunday, July 13, at the Northside Civic Center.

Repeated sun exposure can cause brown lesions to the face and other parts of the body. These lesions are more commonly known as sun spots or liver spots. The best way to treat these “spots” is to prevent them.

Okra was discovered around Ethiopia during the 12th century B.C. and was cultivated by the ancient Egyptians. It eventually came to North America and is now commonly grown in the southern United States.

Popcorn has been used as Christmas tree decoration, packing for shipping items, and as a treat while watching movies and a snack at home. How can anyone forget those great tasting popcorn balls grandma used to make!

Carencro – Funeral services were held Thursday, June 19, 2008, at 10 a.m. in Melancon Funeral Home-Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel for Larry Joseph LaGrange, 58, who passed away Monday, June 16, 2008, at 9 a.m. at Heart Hospital in Lafayette.

Breaux Bridge – Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Wilbert “Papit” Thibodeaux, 72, who passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at his residence.
