The Evangeline Parish Police Jury held a special meeting Monday, June 16, to schedule a public hearing on the proposed stock law in Ward Four.

Funeral services will be held for Linda Alfred Jack, 59, of Ville Platte, at Antioch Baptist Church in Ville Platte at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 21. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery.

The Evangeline Parish School Board handled routine items as it approved personnel matters, bills and approved quotes for insurance.

Students participating in the sixth session of the Youth Opportunity Unlimited (Y.O.U.) program graduated during a special ceremony held at the Northside Civic Center Tuesday evening, June 17.

After winning the 2007 Dixie Youth Baseball State Championship in the nine-year-old division, the Ville Platte All-Stars are poised to make another run in 2008. This year’s team features new players and a new head coach in Cane Thomas.

The Mamou 12-under All-Stars got their season off on the right foot. They went to Lafayette and participated in the annual Cajun Express Mid-Summer Classic Tournament at Plantation Park. They took first place after facing some very strong competition. The girls are pictured here.
