The union of Gina Arabie and Jay Romero, Sr. was celebrated on June 6, 2008. The 6:00 p.m. wedding was held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice. Presiding over the ceremony was Father Joe Breaux.

A sunset ceremony on the beach of Ocho Rios, Jamaica was the setting for the wedding uniting Valerie Marie Hebert and Damien Paul Duhon.
The ceremony was officiated by Minister Donald Williams.

Prosperity is a matter of perspective.
The St. Landry Parish Solid Waste Disposal Commission on May 31 had $1.8 million in the bank, compared to $1.5 million the same date last year.
Parish President Don Menard says that indicates the Commission has more than enough revenue every year and he wants some of it to help with his parish-wide road improvement program.
Commissioners, include Gardie McManus of Eunice, say he’s wrong.

The Acadia Parish Police Jury will hold a public hearing on Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. on the question of whether it should levy additional or increase millage rates without voter approval or adopt the adjusted millage rate and roll forward to a millage rate not to exceed the prior year’s maximum.

The city had hoped to receive several hundred thousand dollars this summer in Community Block Grant funds for road improvements in Wards 2 and 4.
Instead, Mayor Bob Morris has learned, the city is not eligible for CBG money of any kind as long as a wastewater project remains outstanding.
