The Second Annual Mamou Cajun Music Festival Pageant will be held Sunday, August 23, at the Mamou Recreation Center beginning at 10 a.m. Entry fee for contestants ages newborn to 12 is $35, and entry fee for Jr., Teen and Miss contestants is $55.

The Garden of the Month and Civic Pride Award of Merit for August was selected by a committee from the Magnolia Garden Club.

Krystal Lemelle was named Employee of the Month for August at Heritage Manor, and Doritha Ardoin was named Resident of the Month. Lemelle has been employed with Heritage Manor for five years as an LPN. She has one child and enjoys working with the elderly.

Starr Allison, the daughter of Kendra Hall and Kelly Allison of Ville Platte, will celebrate her third birthday Thursday, August 13, 2015, at the Zoo of Baton Rouge.

The Drillers for Christ Drill Team from Disciples Baptist Church in Ville Platte attended the National Baptist Convention of America Inc. In Dallas, Texas, earlier this summer. They competed in the National Drill Team Competition (Category 1) and placed third.

July 28, Meeting

Pine Prairie First Baptist Church completed its sixth season of hosting the All About Kids Production Camp July 12-17. The day camp included Christ-centered dramas, music, art and bible study for 42 campers in grades first-sixth.
