TURKEY CREEK - Funeral services were held for Melvin C. Fontenot, 90, of Turkey Creek, at the Turkey Creek Church of Christ at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 31. Burial followed in the McCormick Cemetery.

Two schools were recognized at the Evangeline Parish School Board meeting on Wednesday, June 4, for their academic growth during the 2006-2007 school year.

Alcide Ortego, a resident of Heritage Manor Nursing Home, celebrated his 100th birthday with a party Tuesday, May 27. With many family and friends present, he enjoyed the celebration and entertained the crowd with his singing and harmonica playing.
