Violation notices are regular mail to city

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s Compliance Order and Notice of Potential Penalty seems to have surprised city officials, but the fact that the Wastewater Plant is violating its permit is old news, according to DEQ records.

DEQ’s file is full of copies of notices of violations from the environmental agency to the city over the past four years, including more than a half dozen monthly alerts to the current administration since it took office 18 months ago.
