With hurricane season just around the corner it was a timely program for the Abbeville Rotarians Wednesday as they gathered for their weekly meeting.

Forty-four St. Edmund eighth-grade students received their certificates of completion on Monday evening at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
The eighth-graders, along with Fr. Tom Voorhies, Leon Estes, assistant principal, family, and friends, met for the school’s annual eighth-grade awards ceremony.

It appears the threat of area flooding from the spring rise of the Mississippi and Atchafalaya Rivers has subsided and probably ended for 2008.

They say we are tired of culture wars. Tell that to the California Supreme Court, which didn’t sound tired at all when it lobbed a big, fat hand grenade into the marriage debate.
