The Ville Platte youth royalty was selected during the pageant held Saturday, May 3, at the Ville Platte Civic Center. Winners and the runners-up were announced as follows:

Savoy Care Center hosted its annual volunteer banquet April 29. Everyone enjoyed a delicious barbecue meal prepared by the staff, and door prizes were given out.

Jarrett Jack plays basketball for the Portland Trail Blazers in the National Basketball Association. His father, Carlton Jack Jr. is a 1970 graduate of James Stephens here in Ville Platte.
