St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Theresa Dautreuil Formeller, 88, who died Sunday, May 18, 2008, in Lafayette.

Cecilia – Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Jessie James Landry, 53, who passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at his residence.

Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Rev. Paul Broussard conducted the funeral service. His godparents served as gift bearers.

Jessie was a carpenter by trade and an avid horseman who enjoyed riding horses in his free time. He loved building things and will be remembered by all who loved him and by his skill as a carpenter.

Breaux Bridge – A Memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge, for Rodney J. Theriot, 57, who passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Heartland Hospice in Georgia.

St. Martinville – Funeral services were held on Monday, May 19, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Hetty Louise Malloy, 60, who passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008. at her residence in St. Martinville.

Breaux Bridge – Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 17, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia for Joseph Felton Noel, 62, who passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at his residence.

The violent storm that moved through the Acadiana area early last Thursday morning led to the cancellation of spring scrimmage games for Breaux Bridge and Cecilia.

Breaux Bridge – Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 15, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel for Ethel Autin Pellerin, 85, who passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008, at St. Martin Hospital.

Cecilia High School athletes were honored at the annual Athletic Banquet on May 7.

Outstanding performers on the CHS baseball team were honored at the May 7 Athletic Banquet. Receiving All-District awards and other honors were (from left) Tyler Champagne, Sage Guidry, Devin Broussard and Kasey Melancon.

Earning All-District basketball honors for the Lady Bulldogs were Natasha Wiltz and Bianca Davis.
