Communities hold candlelight vigil for Addyson Bertrand

Local communities came together on Thursday night for a candlelight vigil at the Pine Prairie ballpark for three-year-old Addyson Bertrand, who passed away on Tuesday after being left in her mother’s car.

Ville Platte Boys & Girls Club registration set for April 4-6

Registration for the Ville Platte Boys & Girls Club’s Summer Program has been set for April 4th through the 6th.
Registration will be held between the hours of 4 and 6 p.m. on those three days and registration will not be extended. Registration will take place at 342 Main Street.

City hosting Easter Egg Hunt Saturday

The City of Ville Platte is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 8 at 9 a.m. at the Northside Civic Center. Residents are encouraged to please bring their own basket. There will be prizes, games and music.

Music fills the air

The sounds of old-time gospel hymns began to fill the hallways at Heritage Manor Nursing Home on Tuesday afternoon.
The music was originating from one of the facility’s activities rooms, where inside sat an old Baldwin piano and a very grateful and enthusiastic piano player.

Parish voters pass a dozen tax measures

A total of 12 tax renewal-continuations that appeared on the ballot for Evangeline Parish passed with ease on Saturday night.

Tri-Parish jobless rates, work force down in February

Tri-Parish unemployment rates are down in February compared to a year ago, but the work force is also down, according to Bureau of Labor and Statistics data released by the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

Mamou Arrests

The Mamou Police Department reported 7 recent bookings into the city jail. Arrested were:
• Daniel Darbonne, 30, 1012 Hickory St., Mamou, was arrested on March 2, 2017 for domestic abuse battery. Darbonne was transfered to the parish jail.

LSU-Eunice suspends multiple softball players for off-campus incident following doubleheader

LSU Eunice has suspended three players and an non-student athlete in connection with an off-campus incident that occured last week involving Lamar State College Port Arthur.
LSUE Director of Publie Relations Van Reed released a statement Tuesday explaining their decision.

Evangeline Parish Sheriff Eddie Soileau released an update on Tuesday, March 27, 2017 regarding the death of a three-year-old that was run over by a vehicle last Thursday:

The Ville Platte Police Department has confirmed that a three-year-old child died after being left in a car on Tuesday.
