LAFAYETTE – Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Branch for Rodney Guidry, 74, who made his glorious transition Monday, April 14, 2008 at Acadia St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.

Parish officials are working to establish an emergency no-wake rule for power craft in the waterways of Lower St. Martin Parish, where flooding from the Mississippi is creeping toward residences and businesses.

Kim Hayes, a Crowley attorney and lifelong resident of Acadia Parish today announces his candidacy for City Judge of the City of Crowley and the Sixth Ward. “It is my goal to bring improvements and needed changes to the Crowley City Court system,” Hayes stated.

CROWLEY – The Memorial Educational Foundation announces that it will award the Mary Grace Pete Scholarship in May 2008. The $500 scholarship will be awarded to an academically able and needy student from a religious home.

Getting accustomed to the sight of cameras, booms and stage hands and actors working in and around Abbeville may be the future as Bullet Films utilizes the various unique scenery in Vermilion Parish for their latest film based upon an H.P. Lovecraft story.

In an effort to keep up with the cost of living and to create a system that is competitive to other parishes, the Vermilion Parish Police Jury voted at a special meeting Monday night to raise all parish employees salaries.

LSUE Community Day is scheduled for Saturday from 10:30 until 2:30 p.m.
