The Figs to perform at Library Fest, April 19

The Evangeline Parish Library Fest is Saturday, April 19, at the Northside Civic Center. The Figs, an all-female band will be performing at 9 a.m. and at 11 a.m.

Loretta Sinette finds a treasure in someone’s trash site

That old saying “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” is especially true for former Ville Platte resident Loretta Sinette of Opelousas.

On Feb. 20, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office in connection with Parish Government’s Keep St. Martin Beautiful and DOTD, had five crews picking up trash on La. 94., 182, and 353 over-filling a thirty cubic yard dumpster.

Dr. Charles Fontenot takes oath of office

Dr. Charles Fontenot just completed 25 years of service to Evangeline Parish as coroner, and Monday, March 24, he took his oath of office for another four years of service to Evangeline Parish. Fontenot became coroner in 1979, when he completed one year of an unexpired term.
