Good Friday, or Holy Friday, which is observed the Friday preceding Easter, is called “good” because of the wonder and meaning that flow from it. It is the day when Christ suffered for the well-being of mankind and spread His goodness over this world.

CROWLEY – High winds, gusting up to 45 miles per hour, preceded a thunderstorm system which passed through Acadia Parish and Louisiana Tuesday night.

The first full day of spring dawned as a glorious Good Friday, an appropriate matching of the renewal symbols of the calendar, the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

About 360 riders from 39 states and Canada will pedal throughout Acadiana, including St. Landry Parish, March 27-30 for the seventh annual Cycle Zydeco, a cycling tour featuring the world-renowned food, music, natural beauty and hospitality of South Louisiana.

The St. Landry District Attorney’s Office said 45 felony defendants were convicted of, or pleaded guilty, to felony charges in February.
