Breaux Bridge to honor top citizens

Breaux Bridge — The Breaux Bridge Area Chamber of Commerce will honor Bruce Montesano and the late Earl Broussard with its Distinguished Citizen award at this year’s banquet.

The annual event will be held Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Atchafalaya Club in Henderson, starting at 5:45 p.m.

High court upheld murder conviction

New Orleans — The Louisiana Supreme Court rejected claims last Wednesday that convicted serial killer Derrick Todd Lee was mentally retarded. Lee’s legal team argued that he should not have been tried in East Baton Rouge Parish for the 2002 murder of Charlotte Murray Pace.
