This patch of sugar cane recently harvested near Morbihan may look strange, but it’s not a strange new variety or a genetically modified crop. According to St. Martin County Agent Alfred Guidry, it’s just normal cane that was allowed some extra time in the field during a warm spell.

Breaux Bridge — The Breaux Bridge Area Chamber of Commerce will honor Bruce Montesano and the late Earl Broussard with its Distinguished Citizen award at this year's banquet.
