Turkey Tournament begins; results told from first two days

The annual Sacred Heart Turkey Tournament kicked off in Ville Platte Monday afternoon with a total of five boys teams and six girls teams from around the area competing for the title. Here is a rundown of the first two days of action.

BASILE -- The tremendous 2015 football season experienced by the Basile Bearcats will move forward, after they took care of the Homer Pelicans in a 35-7 regional playoff win here Friday night.

Sacred Heart boys defeat St. Edmund

EUNICE -- Thursday night was the first St. Edmund’s basketball game with the football players since losing in the first round of the football playoffs last week.

Sacred Heart girls win season opener

EUNICE -- Sacred Heart head coach Stephanie Fontenot and assistant coach George Broussard led their troops into Eunice Thursday night for a game against the St. Ed’s Lady Blue Jays.

After receiving a bye for the first round of the 2015 LHSAA Class 1A playoffs, the Bearcats now know their opponent.

Mamou falls to Eunice in season basketball opener

EUNICE -- Coming into the 2015-2016 basketball season, the main goal for the Mamou Demons was to get back into the playoffs; something they have not done in the last five years.
In order to do that, the Demons would need to get off to a good start to begin this year’s campaign.

Mamou Lady Demons blow by Lady Bobcats in opener

EUNICE -- After a 22-9 season and a playoff appearance a year ago, the Mamou Lady Demons looked to carry that experience into the new year.
Mamou accomplished that Monday night, as the Lady Demons rolled into Eunice and came away with an impressive 69-38 drumming of the Lady Bobcats.
