Ville Platte goes the distance with highly ranked Patterson

PATTERSON -- In the most complete game played this season, the Ville Platte Bulldogs came within inches of upsetting the fourth-ranked Patterson Lumberjacks in a bi-district playoff game here Friday night.

Going into the 2015 season, the Ville Platte High Bulldogs had a number of goals they wished to accomplish.
One of those goals was to make the Class 3A playoffs, something they had not done last year.
Mission accomplished.

Basile earns first round bye; awaits next opponent

After another enormous season, the 9-1 Basile Bearcats were rewarded with a number two ranking and a first round bye in the LHSAA Class 1A football playoffs.
Basile will now await the winner of the Montgomery/Homer bi-district game to be played on Friday in Montgomery.

Self-inflicted wounds

VILLE PLATTE -- Trailing 7-0 at halftime, Sacred Heart came out of the locker room with renewed purpose and energy. Determined to earn a season-ending Homecoming victory, the Trojans quickly scored to tie the game up.

Basile secures 5-1A title with 20-14 win

EUNICE -- Great teams play great in big games. That is why they are considered great teams.
The Basile Bearcats proved Friday night that they are a great team this season.

Ville Platte takes it on the chin in loss to Church Point

CHURCH POINT -- When last we saw Church Point play a team from Evangeline Parish, it was week seven of the season as the Bears were running rampant through Pine Prairie propelled by big plays en route to a 41-­13 win.

Eunice too much for Pine Prairie

PINE PRAIRIE -- The Eunice High Bobcats claimed the District 5-3A title here Friday night with a 49-6 victory over Pine Prairie.

Mamou falls short in comeback bid against Vinton

MAMOU-- A late fourth quarter rally from the Mamou Demons was not enough to overcome a 22 point deficit over the Vinton Lions in a 42-29 loss.

For the seniors

A season filled with injuries and learning curves will play itself out this Friday night for the Sacred Heart Trojans (2-7, 1-5) as they host the Delcambre Panthers (2-7, 2-4) for homecoming. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
