Employee and Resident of the Month announced

Sandra Boykins was named Employee of the Month for February at Heritage Manor, and Betty Jack was named Resident of the Month. Boykins has been employed with the dietary department at Heritage Manor for eight months and she enjoys her job and works well with other employees.

Catholic Daughter receives 50-year medal

Germa Vidrine, seated, was recently presented with a medal to recognize her 50-year membership and devoted service to the Catholic Daughters.

Heritage Manor Valentine king and queen crowned Tuesday, February 10

Preston Ardoin, first photo, and Bobbie McCauley, second photo, were crowned as the 2015 Heritage Manor King and Queen during the pageant held Tuesday, February 10. They will go on to represent Heritage Manor at the regional pageant in April. Ardoin is 80 years old and a native of Ville Platte.

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674, held its annual banquet on Wednesday, February 4, at the Our Lady Queen of All Saints Family Life Center, with Regent Barbara Delafosse as Mistress of Ceremonies.

Local author, Boisy Pitre, has been an avid and passionate advocate for the Color Computer for nearly 30 years. In 1992, he joined Microware Systems Corporation, the makers of OS-9, as a software engineer and has worked in the industry ever since.

VPE students learn about local government

On January 7, Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine and Judge Greg Vidrine visited the second grade students at Ville Platte Elementary. The students have been learning about local government and their jobs in the community in their Social Studies class.

Veillon to compete at Queen of Queens

The 30th Miss Boggy Bayou Queen, Torian Paige Veillon, the daughter of Kevin and Dalayne Veillon of Ville Platte, will be representing Evangeline Parish as one of the 67 Louisiana Fairs and Festivals queens at this year’s annual LAFF Convention and Queen of Queens Contest, to be held February 5-8
